Seek to be Whole, Not Perfect: Robyn’s Story

PREVIEW: Robyn has lost 14 lbs going from 172 lbs to 158 lbs on our Real Results Nutrition Program.  She has also gotten stronger in the process, adding 60 lbs to her back squat (from 145 lbs to 205 lbs).

Robyn says, “I haven’t been under 164 in 4 years. 😀 Such a good feeling thank you!!

“Although there were times that I wanted to give up I always knew I had Britt 100% behind me cheering me on and keeping me accountable…I love that it’s real life and it’s also about eating whole foods.  It doesn’t feel like a special diet it is just my improved way of eating and fuelling my body.  It has given me the confidence to take control of myself not just physically, but mentally and emotionally and to be the best version of myself I can be.”

“What did you struggle with before starting the program?”
Physically I was not where I wanted to be.  It wasn’t even all about the scale, although who doesn’t want it to go down when your not at your “ideal” weight. It was more about my performance and things I wanted to do in the gym. Also, I remembering thinking, ‘If I am working out all the time why shouldn’t I be eating properly to fuel my body, get some better results, and workout with more of a purpose than to just workout?’  It is much more rewarding seeing results and is easier to stick to something when change is happening.
Mentally and emotionally I wasn’t completely and train wreck, but knew that I could improve in this area a lot. Mental toughness is such a huge part of every aspect in life not just in the gym or on the curling ice but with simple everyday things as well. Mentally and emotionally I needed to grow and will continue to as I age, but having a base to stand on is a great place to start.
The scale was always something that I hated and feared. It was such a mental battle anytime I would step on it and if I didn’t like it it would change my mood for the entire day.

Going through this program has not only helped me to change my body to a leaner, stronger me, but has changed many things in my life as a whole. Reading and listening to audio books was not something I did a lot of before but Brittney challenged me to do these things and this has helped with my mental toughness more then I ever thought it could.  The differences I’ve seen in my life in the last few months makes me want to continue reading books to become even greater. I now feel I can keep my emotions in check and can make more decisions based not on emotions but on facts. If my emotions get in the way I can talk myself out of that to have a clear mind.
My relationship with food has also I changed. I now eat to fuel my body for workouts or whatever I am doing that day to perform my best.  I will indulge at times and this program has shown me to actually enjoy what I am eating and not feel guilty about it. I now know that it’s not a wagon that I have fallen off of but enjoying the simple things in life. I can enjoy it more knowing that I will be back to eating how I normally would the next day.
The scale is no longer scary and stepping on it everyday has shown me that you are what you eat and different foods can affect your body and the scale.
Physically I feel more in tune with my body than I did before. It has shown me what my body needs, how it reacts, and what it’s like with different food, water intake, exercise, and sleep.
My favourite part of the program has been the consistency of it. Although there were times that I wanted to give up I always knew I had Britt 100% behind me cheering me on and keeping me accountable. I feel more in control of my eating and knowing I can enjoy food and drinks and not feel guilty about it. Tracking my food and knowing exactly what I am eating has taken the guessing out and allows me to have a mini goal to hit everyday which is so rewarding in itself. I love that it’s real life and is all about eating whole foods. It doesn’t feel like a special diet; it’s just my improved way of eating and fueling my body.
It has given me the confidence to take control of myself not just physically but mentally and emotionally and to be the best version of myself I can be.

I would recommend this program to everyone. With the support and encouragement from Britt it helped keep me plugging along. It’s real eating, not a special diet, and is ultimately something that you can do for the rest of your life. The program is personal to your own specific needs and can change over time as you change. Looking back on the last couple months they really weren’t that hard. Yes, a lot of work was put into meal prep (which was one of the keys to my success), hard workouts, and listening to the advice my coach would give me, but I was still able to enjoy the things that I like to do.
It proved to me that I could still LIVE and not be confined to my house to have success. I could be away from home and follow my macros as best I could and make the best choice when at a restaurant and still enjoy a beer after our curling game
One of my favourite quotes that I try to live by and by doing this program has put me closer to it then before is, “Live from the heart of yourself. Seek to be whole, not perfect” – Oprah Winfrey.
